jenyujenyu: New Milk
Hard not to think of David Cronenberg looking at New Milk in which jenyujenyu indulges in the phantasmagorical through her newborn daughter.
For the artist, giving birth was a simultaneously beautiful moment as well as scary experience. But not so much as in frightening if not eerie or bizarre as in how body and horror converge whether corpulent or prickly.
So what is pink and fleshy, full of oohs, coos, and awes becomes something slightly darker. Cuddly now falls under the microscope, to be scrutinized and examined through the substance often fetishized into the clinical and conceptual. The stuff that nourishes as part of the natural cycle of life emphasizes the symbiotic relationship between mother and child as wynorrific.
Or science fiction fantasy of nature versus nurture where her milk transforms into her metaphorical blood.
