Dan S. Wang: Finding Our Way (through a triple double)

Dan S. Wang returns…

Not the prodigal son but in his familiar role as the voice of and for the people, those in need of his words, his wisdom, his art, all together whether they know it or not. And that is how I have always seen him, a fierce light, shining the right path.

Civic minded, politically involved, socially engaged, the artist creates a whole new body of work that reflects these values, concerns about our world, to imitate life as we live it now but with a moral compass to remind us of our uncompromising obligation to create a better tomorrow. Lessons he learned and now shares from his contemporary version of the Three Heroes of the Kingdom who inspire his own journey through (Chinese/Asian) America.

These prints then overlap many histories to form a sort of Venn diagram that is his manifesto for a kinder, gentler place of justice, compassion and equality. His vision of peace and prosperity as co-existence, diversity, and tolerance. From his earlier days fostering, cultivating and championing community through the iconoclastic Mess Hall, he continues to question the powers that be. His images and text contain weight to challenge the status quo and its infrastructures. Even his preferred media of printmaking is vox populi to appeal and distribute to the masses.

Dan S. Wang fights for us, he is our warrior so welcome back, indeed.
