"Lucky 13"

For some, it is unimaginable to walk under ladders or have a black cat cross their path or break a mirror. Just as the number "thirteen" frightens. But others, the so-called "LUCKY 13" cast their own fortunes with abandon and without regard to such superstitions. Or do they?

Triskaidekaphobia aside,

Frances Ahn, You Ni Chae, Yu-Ling Chiu, Hsuan-Hsiu Hung, Marquise Johnson, Nancy Kim, Cheng-Yung Kuo, Alex Lee, Samia Mirza, Mitsu Okubo, Chae Eun Rhee, Esteban Schimpf and Mat Tom--

all current students or alumni from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago--were asked to include work that interpreted and drew inspiration from the number thirteen in celebration of the 13th anniversary of the Asian American Showcase at the Gene Siskel Film Center.
